(1) What do you understand by ‘Fundamental Rights’?

Ans: The Constitution of India guarantees certain basic rights to all citizens to create equality and a just society. These basic and essential rights are called Fundamental Rights. They protect the freedom and dignity of every individual.

(2) Name the awards that are conferred by the Government upon people for their distinguished contribution in different fields.

Ans: The Government of India confers the following prestigious awards:

  • Padma Shri
  • Padma Bhushan
  • Padma Vibhushan
  • Bharat Ratna

These awards are given for outstanding contributions in various fields such as arts, literature, science, public service, and social work.

(3) Why is it prohibited to employ children under 14 years of age in hazardous places?

Ans: The Constitution has banned exploitation through the Right Against Exploitation. To protect children from harm and injustice, it prohibits employing children below 14 years of age in hazardous places like factories and mines. This law ensures their safety and proper development.

(4) Why has the Constitution given equal rights to all Indian citizens?

Ans: The Constitution ensures equality so that no citizen is treated as superior or inferior. The State cannot discriminate based on religion, caste, gender, or place of birth. All citizens are equal before the law.
