(1) Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti Came to Be Established

(2) The Role of Newspapers Was Important in the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement

(1) Samyukta Maharashtra Parishad

  1. On 12 May 1946, a resolution regarding Samyukta Maharashtra was passed at the Sahitya Sammelan in Belgaon.
  2. The Maharashtra Ekikaran Parishad was held under the leadership of Shankarrao Dev on 28 July in Mumbai.
  3. It was resolved that all Marathi-speaking regions should be united into one state.
  4. The proposed state was to include Mumbai, Marathwada, and Gomantak regions.

(2) Contribution of Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti

  1. The movement spread throughout Maharashtra and reached rural areas.
  2. Common people participated actively in the movement.
