(1) The type of occupation determines a person’s income.

Ans:

(i) A person’s income depends on the type of work he or she does.

(ii) Primary occupations such as farming and fishing usually require basic skills and less investment. Therefore, the income earned from these occupations is generally lower.

(iii) Secondary occupations involve manufacturing and industries, which require more skills and machinery. Hence, they provide better income than primary occupations.

(iv) Tertiary and quaternary occupations require special training, higher education, and technical knowledge.

(v) People engaged in such occupations usually earn higher incomes.

(vi) Therefore, the type of occupation determines a person’s income.

(2) Primary occupations are associated with developing countries while tertiary occupations are associated with developed countries.

Ans:

(i) The level of development of a country depends on the type of occupations practiced by its people.

(ii) In developing countries, most people are engaged in primary occupations such as agriculture and fishing. These occupations generally generate less income.

(iii) In developed countries, more people are engaged in tertiary occupations such as banking, education, transport, and healthcare.

(iv) Tertiary occupations require higher skills and generate more income.

(v) Therefore, countries with more people engaged in tertiary occupations are considered developed, while those with more people in primary occupations are considered developing countries.

(3) Quaternary occupations are not commonly seen.

Ans:

(i) Quaternary occupations require highly specialized knowledge and advanced skills.

(ii) These occupations include activities such as research, information technology, and quality analysis.

(iii) Only a small number of people have the required education and training for such jobs.

(iv) Therefore, quaternary occupations are not commonly seen compared to primary, secondary, and tertiary occupations.
